(SPL) is an Alberta-based, full-service construction firm specializing in general construction, design-build, and construction management services. SPL is focused on the commercial construction market, including major and structural construction and tenant improvements, and has been in business for more than 29 years as the original construction arm within SGC.

Are you a detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys working closely with project teams and ensuring financial accuracy?

Synergy Projects is looking for a dedicated and highly organized Project Accountant to support the financial administration of our construction projects. You’ll play a key role in invoicing, accounts payable, payroll support, cost tracking, and maintaining accurate project financials—all while collaborating with project teams and contributing to smooth financial operations.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Functions

  • Process monthly accounts receivable invoicing, including prime contract change orders and labour charge‑out reconciliation.

  • Investigate unbilled project expenses and ensure accurate invoice recording.

  • Record supplier invoices, timesheets, and corporate overhead allocations.

  • Process and pay accounts payable transactions, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Verify purchase orders, invoices, and requisitions for goods and services.

  • Review project budgets to ensure accurate AP entry and coding.

  • Make daily bank deposits and assist with bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare aged receivable reports and respond to information requests from owners.

  • Attend project start‑up and close‑out meetings.

  • Complete quarterly project cleanup, reconciliation, and vendor statement reviews.

  • Maintain vendor records and ensure all financial documentation is accurate.

Communication

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and respond to vendor and Project Manager inquiries promptly.

  • Collaborate with Operations on project accounting matters.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience as a Project Accountant or Accounts Payable role.

  • Post‑secondary diploma in Accounting.

  • Strong working knowledge of AP, AR, and general ledger processes.

  • High accuracy and attention to detail when entering and managing financial information.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office—especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Experience with Viewpoint (Vista) is an asset.

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
